“The Mighty 611” was taken at the Blue Ridge Tunnel near Afton, Virginia in June 2026. The 611 steam engine is a Norfolk and Western J Class 4-8-4 locomotive. It is seen here leading excursions on the Buckingham Branch from Staunton to Afton. Built in 1950, the 611 is the only surviving J Class locomotive and now resides at the Virginia Museum of Transportation.
