“Removing the Eagle” was taken in June 2026 at the Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Engineer Ed Dickens is seen here removing the eagle for the evening from the front of the Union Pacific 4014 “Big Boy”. The 4-8-8-4 steam engine made a coast-to-coast trip and stopped at Steamtown for two weeks. It is estimated that over 110,000 people came to see the Big Boy. It is the only one still in operation.
