“Big Boys 4014 and 4012” was taken in June 2026 at the Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton, Pennsylvania. This pair of Union Pacific 4-8-8-4 Big Boy steam engines were built in 1941. The 4014 is the only remaining operational Big Boy, undertaking a remarkable
coast-to-coast trip. The 4012 has been at Steamtown since 1984. It is the first time two Big Boys have been together in over 60 years. Over 110,000 people came to this historic two-week event. This photo was taken during a Pete Lerro photography workshop.
