“611” was taken in October 2025 in Staunton, Virginia. Built in 1950, the 611 steam engine is the sole survivor of 14 J Class locomotives and is considered one of the most powerful and technologically advanced steam locomotives ever built. It routinely pulled passenger cars at 85 mph but could reach speeds up to 110 mph. The 611 currently resides where it was built in Roanoke, VA.
